Adult Professional Development Workshops
Working with youth is by definition an intensely creative endeavor demanding a high level of improvisation - and the arts can be one of your greatest allies.  These workshops for youth workers, artists, teachers, and other adults are based on the belief that you don't have to be a professional artist to use the arts in working with young people. You will learn powerful arts-based techniques to help youth increase their emotional literacy and capacity for self-expression. And in the process, you'll discover how your own creativity can sustain you in your life and work.   Creative Facilitation 1: Express Yourself! and Creative Facilitation 2: The Art of Facilitation are both two day workshops that are open to anyone who wants to enhance their skills in using creativity based learning in their programs.  We also offer Heart of Facilitation from time to time, a five month intensive facilitation training program that meets one weekend a month.

At Creative Facilitation 1, you will learn:
  • how to use the arts to enliven learning, enhance self-reflection, and build group trust
  • techniques based on storytelling, creative writing, visual arts, music, drama, and movement
  • ways to create safe environments for creative exploration
  • models of creative process and arts-based group facilitation
  • how to weave the arts into a program
  • visualization techniques
  • how to bring your own creativity alive
  • ways to work hand-in-hand with your local arts community
