Heart of Facilitation: About the Trainers
Heart of Facilitation will be led by Power of Hope co-founder Peggy Taylor, Inside Out Development founder Hanif Fazal, and the President of Highpoint Experience, Carmen Cook.
These facilitators are highly recognized in their fields, and represent over 80 years experience working with experiential learning, personal empowerment, and creative expression.
Peggy Taylor, M Ed, is a writer, musician and creative development specialist with a gift for designing and facilitating programs for diverse groups. She is co-founder of Power of Hope and for many years served as co-director. In 2007 she co-founded PYE Global (Partnership for Youth Empowerment), an international training organization dedicated to supporting communities globally in providing arts empowerment programs for their youth. Peggy is co-author of Chop Wood, Carry Water: A Guide to Finding Spiritual Fulfillment in Everyday Life, which has sold over a quarter of a million copies worldwide.
Hanif Fazal is a Power of Hope lead facilitator and owner and director of Inside Out Development, a training organization based in Portland, Oregon. Hanif has extensive experience working with youth of all levels of risk ranging from gang affiliation to sex offenders to some our most socio-economically privileged youth. Hanif works throughout North America providing empowerment, diversity, and intervention trainings for middle school and high school students, teachers, and youth work professionals.
Carmen Cook is President of Highpoint Experience, a training company dedicated to transformative learning for personal and team development. Carmen is known for her ability to create innovative learning experiences to help teams and leaders create sustainable work environments by building trust, relationships, and respect for diversity. Carmen is also a certified professional coach and spent the first ten years of her career as a teacher, working with youth as much outdoors as in the classroom, guiding wilderness experiences and whitewater rafting trips with the express purpose of building self-esteem, self-reliance, and community. In addition to her teaching degree, Carmen has a BA in Sociology and an MA in Parks and Recreation Planning. She taught for three years in the Parks and Recreation Department at Chico State University.
