Dear
Power of Hope Family,
Hello from Colombia! I hope all of you are doing well and I
can't wait to see you when I return (in just a little over
a month...) In the mean time, I want you all to know that things
are going great for me in South America and I'm learning and
growing every day. I recently spent nearly a month in Peru, a
land of extraordinary people, beautiful landscapes and living
history. Currently I am in Colombia which is equally amazing.
Just a couple hours ago in the city of Medellin I stumbled upon
a festival of youth creativity - middle and high school
aged youth were playing live cumbia music, walking on stilts,
and sparking spontaneous street dancing. I felt like I was in
the middle of a Power of Hope open mic! Everywhere I go I meet
incredible people and I wish I could introduce you to all of
them. I see many of your faces reflected in the young people and
adults across South America who are working (and playing) to
create a more just, joyful, and
sustainable world. While I've been here I've been fortunate
enough to create connections and work in unison with various
organizations and individuals that share Power of Hope's goals.
I will spend most of my remaining month in Ecuador continuing
this cultural and creative exchange.
I heard it snowed recently in Seattle, so I will do my best to
send you all some Colombian sunshine (it may take a couple of
weeks to arrive as I'll have to send it via air mail...)
Hope all is well for you!
Hasta Pronto (See Ya Soon),
Alan
